What is the best way to redirect a user to the server root dir??

i found $_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT']

but that is document dir, is there a functino for server dir??

why on earth would you want to direct the user to the server root, which would never be a public directory anyway?

i actually want to redirect to my login page from any page on the site.

i figured the best way to do this was rootdir/public dir/login.php

that way however deep in the site a user is they will be redirected to login.php if not logged in

i think you are getting confused between SERVER ROOT and DOCUMENT ROOT. based on your last post, you do indeed want DOCUMENT ROOT. however, if you wish to redirect via a call to [man]header[/man] then you need to pass a URL, not a filesystem path.
