vB type code..string replace help

Hey all,
some of you might remember me...most wont. I used to post here a year or two ago, and since then lost intrestin PHP...anyways, I got it back and need some help...I know you guys can help me 😉

So I'm using str_replace to find "user" code and replace it with HTML. Type in Link Name and it would convert it to the proper HTML.

So far I have:

$data = str_replace("[URL=http://blah.com]", "<a href>", $data);

but for the life of me I cant think of how to get it to pick up on the =http://url.com part and place it into <a href="http://url.com">

I figured out how to do it but have yet another question.

function ReplaceTags($input){
$custom = array("/\[URL=([a-zA-Z]*:\/\/.*?)\](.*?)\[\/URL\]/", "[\r]");
$html = array("<a href=\"$1\" class=toplink target=\"_BLANK\">$2</a>", "<p>");
$output = preg_replace($custom, $html, $input);
return $output;
}

$input is the data you want to search for these custom tags.

$custom is the tag itself (mine is setup in an array, since I will be using more than one type of tag).

$html is the html equivilent.

Now as you can see, my to pick up on them, but I can only use that tag.

I have tried [\r](.+) which gives me an error about the string. What I WANT to do is put <p>data here</p> so that it is proper html.
