PHP tags:
<?php ?> // full tags
<? ?>// shortcut
<?= ?> ???

What is the logical difference in PHP betwween shortcut tag and <?= ?>

in PHP, nothing... but <? is also a short tag for something else I believe... and to completely compatible with ANY php install
<?php should always be used since you can disable short tags via the config files... as far as the <?php=$var?> lines goe... its an abbreviated way of echoing text to a webpage.... dont think that one can be disabled

is the same as

<? echo $var ?>

not good parctice, however, and you really should always use full tags

I agree. Bugs the hell out of me when somebody uses <?=$var?>. My text editor doesn't correctly do the syntax highlighting and it makes it hard to read.

on that note, most editors allow you to modify the highlighting definitions and you could easily include that in there then 😉

Yeah, I know. I just haven't felt like taking the time to define syntax highlighting for something that really shouldn't be there anyway, IMHO.
