local network test setup help

I'm sure I'm doing something stupid.....

I have my test website on my local win2k machine.

I Have setup on this win2k machine- Apache, PHP and MySQL. On this machine all works fine, I can test etc and if i try to open index.php for example everything is fine.

How do I enable other people on my LAN to open the same files to look at how everything is progressing and make comments. Each time they try to oopen the index.php file it asks them to select an approriate program to open it with. The other machines are Win98 if this makes a difference. i have tried disabling my Firewall to see if it was a firewall problem but still nothing.

Of course it won't. Its not an actual address. What he means is that you need to go to the IP address of your server... i.e. http://10.20.30.40/file.asp

Is there an easier way for people to view differnt files instead of entering test.ip.address/subdirectory/subdirectory/file.php and maybe test.ip.address/subdirectorydifferent/file.php etc

If they try to do "file" "open" in internet explorer and browse for the file it fails. Is this impossible or is it a setup issue?

Are you talking about browsing the network for a php file to edit it, which would be a case of setting up file sharing on your network, or browsing like you're browsing the net and see the output of what each file produces?

No, It's not to edit it's for people to be able to actually see the results of opening the php file as if they browse for the file either through IE or through windows explorer it does not PROCESS the php file but just tries to open it for editing purposes.

Is there an easy way for them to be able to find a file (and RUN it)and let the server side scripts work without them having to type in the EXACT address in the browser (IE in my case). There are numerous different files which are being worked on and teh only way around it at the moment which I can see is constantly update my "index" page with all the relevant files but this is time consuming as people also want to see older versions etc so the TEST index page will get very messy after a while.

Make any sense?
