Help checkbox question

Is it possible to send a "checked" value to a database without
physically checking the checkbox. And if so how, how is it done.

this is my html

I have an auto-join script that will allow users to remotely signup
on several of message boards without accessing each individual signup page. However, I wish to send the checkbox value of "yes" for each form.

Is this even possible?

is it possible to bypass physically checking a checkbox?

For example in the above html code I am attempting to send the variable as agreement=yes.

If this was not A checkbox, but simply a field named agreement with a value of yes, it would work. (text for example)

I do not want to completely remove the checkbox from the form because some applicants need to check it on a per message board basis.

Hope this makes more sense.

Well, yes, and no. In your situation (which does seem clearer now), I'd say it's a "yes" checkbox, or a "yesyesyes" checkbox, e.g., you'll want another checkbox saying something like "don't just sign me up here, but everywhere...."

If you want user input, you have to take user input. And, frankly, what's the use of not taking it .... ? 😉

Maybe someday we'll be able to read their mind. :eek:

And you do know about "<input type=hidden>", don't you?

yes I know about "hidden' but that isn't what I want here.

the reason i want to bypass the checkbox for those signing up 'carte blanche' is these people have already agreed to our terms and conditions - those signing up on an individual basis have not agreed to our terms.

Of course we can always code the form differently for the auto-join

I am simply trying to find out if I can bypass the checkbox without recoding for the auto-join

If this is possible, I would appreciate someone guiding me as to how it's done.

If anyone know this is not possible , please let me know.

Well, let's think it through.

At some point, they've said, "I want to join every site you have and that's a fact, you can use my info for everything".

So, they checked some box.

Write it down.

Then, when they come to a similar page again, if you can identify them (do they log in? did you set a cookie?), you check wherever you "wrote it down" (file? db?, etc., etc) and if you can find a match, you either marked the new checkbox "checked" or you shoot some message to them like "I know you, and you're signed up."

So far, you've posted one line of HTML. Take my thoughts above, work out a plan that fits the situation, write some PHP, and get back to the forum ... I'll bet ya someone can help you out. 😉
