preg_match() validator

if(preg_match("/^[a-zA-Z]+$/", $form_user) AND $step != ""){
$username_validated = "yes";
}

My question is simple. I want this validator to include spaces aswell.

(PS. :bemused: I hope i not bug everyone with my lousy beginner question, but i will learn and help others in time 🙂 )

The pattern /^[a-zA-Z ]+$/ matches 1 or more alphabetic characters from start to end.
The solution is to include a space in the character class.

if (preg_match("/^[a-zA-Z ]+$/", $form_user) && $step != "") {
	$username_validated = "yes";
}
