Also, it was hinted at, but never flat out said, the company that hosts this site doesn't do it as part of their business, it is just something they offer to the PHP community, and it is in many peoples opinions the best PHP forums out there. The only stipulation with them using their private resources to run this site is that there be no job postings, and the moderators here have to ensure that this remains the case.
Had you sat and spectated at these forums for awhile, you would see that there are sometimes many many of these job postings where people make no attempt to read, or understand the rules of this community... Obviously at some point it gets to be a nuisance and they get tired of handling it in the polite manner that often seems to bring absolutely no results for their time in trying to correct the problem....
The response you received... is unfortunately the type of response that usually gets the infringing party's attention, and gets the point across. Is this the best way? Probably not... but sometimes effectiveness out weighs correctness. One thing I can tell you, is that nobody here will hold this against you if you were to stay here and become an active member of the community. We do believe that once people realise how things work around here, they can become very productive people here, no matter how rocky their initial start here was (a few very rare exceptions can always be found to this rule though).
With that being said, I hope you do hang around abit, even if you do not make any more posts for awhile, just to get the feel for the group, and what we really do have to offer as a collective.
Resistance is futile... You will be assimilated! J/k :p
