create arrays in for loop with different names

Hi,

I'm having a few issues with creating a certain number of arrays using a for loop, each of the arrays having a different name. The names can just be $arr1, $arr2.....etc with the only names difference being the number.

For example (I know this doesn't work, but to give u an example of what I am trying to do):

    

for ($i=0; $i < 6; $i++){

   $arr.$i = array();

}

It must be possible, I just cant get the concatenation correct.

Any help is much appreciated!

Use variable variables:

for ($i = 0; $i < 6; $i++) {
	${'arr' . $i} = array();
}

That said, why not use a 2-dimensional array?

I think after 4yrs at university studying computing science I can reassure u thatI know how to work with a 2-D arrays.

Comments like that don't help php newcomers at all so if you could, direct them at someone else.

Reasons:

1)Just for reference I need it to remain a 1-D array as I'm applying euclidean's formula to it further down the line, not that its any of your business, and other arrays therefore, to keep it nice and straightforward, I am happy, and the system being created, needs it only to be as I stated.

2) I think people like you need to get a life (perhaps a social one!) outside PHP and programming rather than having a go at others.

I think I have to learn english a bit more...

I'm just wondering what one could not do with 2-dimensional arrays but with variable vars?

btw: I have a life beside computers.
I know that there's something outside my window called world with birds, flowers, air, sky, earth, other human beinggs like you and me, my girlfriend, some of my friends (got some I know only vie computer till now), ...

The fact that you studied does not neccessartily mean that you know PHP better 😉
