Where to start

Alright, basically over the past week I've been designing a new site for my clan and I'm almost ready with the design which means I'll have to start coding it soon. I've made about 3 sites before this and I've done some basic php coding.

Now I need a bit of help, I want to get this right the first time round. I learnt the importance of slicing the hard way when I made my first site :p

Any tips, pointers and help on where to start and what to do much appreciated 🙂

Thats what I've photoshopped so far, there will be some changes and additions, but they won't alter the core design.

Features should include
- People able to register and post comments
- Everyone should have their own profile
- Integrated forum (maybe, not decided yet)
- Admins able to post news, post match reports, change roster etc.

Typical template looking design (no offense). Where I started along with everyone else is with just good ol HTML. Get that down pat or you wouldn't go anywhere. :-D

You have came to the right place though. This is one of the best PHP Boards out there. Many knowledgable people around here. Ok the best place to start with PHP (some say www.php.net) but I tend to disagree. The better place to start is actually just get specific things together. Like your example with a members section. First learn to make a database (assuming you will use one) and then learn to make a login page. From there learn to display the users information and have them change it (passwords ect). Start in baby steps. You can read all day long and learn nothing, or you could program for 10 minutes and learn a lifetime. I tend to program then ask questions. 😉
