Chronological site map

I have a list of files for my web site. I assume there is a way to put them in chronological order using php coding. Could someone inform me on how to do this (step by step) or a reference that could guide me thru this process?

what temporal data are you using to decide on the chronology? file creation time? file modification time? something in the file names?

I would be using modification time.

filemtime gives me modification date but I wan't code to find a chronological listing of all the files on a website by date without having to manually do it, if all possible.

So far, everything is working nicely. But I don't have one spot where all of my files are kept. The entire site's files are what I need and they are located in multiple directories. Is there a way I can make multiple paths and still get one list of sorted files?

just do the same thing i posted above on the multiple directories and add them all to the array. wait until all of the dirs are in the array before you call asort. watch out for duplicate filenames.

So far everything is fine a few more things... I got the list for all the directories, etc.
The files sort in ascending order.
Is there anyway I can code the list to descend by date?
So that the latest modification displays first and the earliest last.

Also, is there anyway I can make each file a link (the file names are where they would link to).
