Website with one page

Hi, I have been creating a website for a while now, and have been creating sections of my site on one page: for example:

there is a forum section. so I have one php page named forums. I have made several functions on the php page that do certain things according to variables sent to the page by links. Let's say the user want's to reply to a post. He clicks reply, the link is like this: forum.php?action=reply

There are several if statements which check the value of $_GET['action'] and do various things. in the above case it would execute the reply function allowing the user to reply.

I hope this is clear. My question is: is this good practice? it seems to keep everything well organized for me. Is anyone else doing this? If it is not a good idea then why not? Thanks for any advice!

yeah, its a good idea, you can see this forum here does it to, with newreply.php?action=newreply...
its quite common, just make sure you thoroughly check the value of the variable and prevent users from messing with your scripts. I have seen very poor implementations of this where people do index.php?page=news and they do include($_GET['page'] . ".html");
that way, its very easy to exploit them by putting a url in there with a file full of bad php code to expose certain things. if you check for that stuff you should be fine.

I think he was asking it is okay to have the whole script in one file. If that's what your asking then the answer depends on how big your site is. If you need a lot of differant things you may be better of have multiple files, but if you have a fairly small site one page should work fine.
