I have created a form that insert the chosen username in to the database.

but i can choose the same user name each time the formis submited. how would i check to see if that user name has allready been chosen?

eg
if $name is in datebase
do nothing

run a SELECT query on the db before you do the INSERT query.

i made it so that it logs the ip then you can choose a username to go with the ip

how do i make it so that if the ip allready exist it does not add it again in a new record and if the username field is full were ip is it does not show the form?

if that make more sence that my ealry comment

peaple are using get_magic_quotes_gpc
what this do apart from 0 and 1?
