Long time since I last posted ... and there's a reason. I've been working my little socks off - actually they're size 11 but who's counting - trying to eke my way up the corporate ladder out of the dingy basement that is database editor to the glory of systems and development. And I've made it!
Considering I was teaching English 4 years ago and have no formal qualifications in IT I'm quite happy - as you can well imagine. Unless that is you hate corporations and would rather clean the toilet with an effigy of a CEO atop your loo brush.
Anyway, the point is this: I've been given all these responsibilities but no one knows what to call the job - it's a new position. I've a few ideas but was wondering what you'd call yourself (max two words, three possible but only if exceptionally brilliant)
The main thrust of the job is:
transfer a couple of thousand of not brilliantly organised data sets from one (slightly ropey) cms to another (somwhat sleeker) version
create new information flows for the website after analysing current hierarchies and recommending changes
update and edit website content
analyse data in customer service database and create management reports for staff and clients
manage new cms concentrating on its ability to work with the website (it is also used for a number of other things)
-
advise and help develop e-learning section of website
There is quite a bit more but I'd hate to cause you to fall asleep at your screen.
So, what do you reckon the job title should be? Systems Manager. Website Information Officer, Information Analyst ...
