does anyone know how to limit the number of chars in a text area when submitting a form to a DB and if the user enters too many chars in the text area, you then cut off the chars at the end that are not wanted? i can't find a function that trims the end of the text.

You won't need to trim the characters at the end because the textarea won't let you type past the specified limit.

does anyone know if it's even possible to trim characters off the end depending on where you want it to? this would be so the user could type all they want and if they go over the limit they wouldn't even know their text had been trimmed.
