why is prod not prod

Hi,

I am trying to write a script and I need to have a variable with the result of &prod but why I try to allocate a variable with this value I get this ∏ character in stead of &prod (if you can not see this character it looks like an upside down U)

Any ideas why this is happening, is prod a restricted name in PHP

Forgot to say that I am using apache 2 with php 5.03

&prod is most likely a special character. change it to &amp-;-prod and it'll work how you want

(change -;- to just ; )

∏ (oops, ∏ ) is a known character entity in HTML. It represents the "Product" operator.
