It's all about colours

Although I have been doing web site design for 5 years (I'm now 20) I have never read an article on it :bemused: I have always had trouble with colours and wondered how web sites were able to get a really nice matching colour scheme. I feel like a fool for not knowing but "live and learn" :o

I found these links to automatic colour scheme generators. A quick search with google done the trick. There are ones you can pay for but these three example ones below are totally free. Add them to your favourites or simply save to the hard drive 😉

Some of us have these committed to memory...they do help alot even where choosing web colors are concerned.

I find that the best way to pick colors is from natural conditions...like photos (using the color picker in Photoshop). Somebody over at boxesandarrrows wrote a nice article about that process last year.

On occasion I've played with SLUGS. It's listed as an HTML-Kit plugin, but the fact is that it works as a standalone gadget also.

[Edit: probably should've mentioned that the reason the reason I only play with it occasionally is that I'm somewhat offended by the fact that it's an unjustifiable half a megabyte in size. Delphi seems to be a good language for writing bloatware.]

Netnerd - those are some great links - I was using some old artists books from college to choose my colors... which probably explains why my sites look like poop. 🙂 Concepts are basically the same, though, but the wellstyled site sure does tie it all up nice and neat with a little bow for you.

Personally, I prefer to charge up my colors more than this (or just use black and white), but this is a very good tutorial for somebody who might know too much about colors...for web colors that is.

Sorry, I'm just commenting that this is the second site I've seen today that has offered a "large print" version. Seems like a singularly useless thing to offer: can't people just Ctrl-+ any more?

Hmm, I guess you uncommented this line in syslog.conf?

# uncomment this to enable logging of all log messages to /dev/null all

touch /dev/null all and chmod it to mode 600 before it will work

#. /dev/null all

Note that this is a suggestion, not an imperative command....
