Is there any Mail error function

Hi,
I was wondering if there is any function to tell you why mail() hasn't worked similar to mysql_error().

The reason I ask is because I know the script is fine as it works sometimes but not others. I think the problem is on the server.

It would be good to know what prevented it from sending.
