Hi,

I have a web site in which i use the multi-level web directory like
http://www.vikasumit.com (my site) is main site..
Now i have tutorial in it..in http://www.vikasumit.com/tutorial/programminng/
Now this programming folder has category folders in....

It works fine but if some one opens the http://www.vikasumit.com/tutorial/ it show the directory listing...

Now i want to make it show my home page or error page or any thing else without setting every directory.....that mean i doesn't want to put a index file in each folder..(limited web space)

and things like that...

I know it is not a PHP question and this is PHP site but i doesn't know any other web related site...🙁

If any one know how to do it please let me know...

Do you have access to teh servers httpd.conf file? There is a directive you can use to not allow indexes...

Hi,

No I don't think so that i have the access of httpd.conf access..

I have a gerenal account web hosting companies give away...And my company doesn't give access to that file..but I have .htaccess or any other file that I can put in my site folders....

Also I have very little knowledge of it...so I am not sure whether my hosting allow the access or not...BUt My guess it not..🙁

Is there any other way i can do through the .htaccess

Maybe just generate a blank file and call it index.html. 1 byte used, so it shouldn't affect your disk quota or transfer quota too much 🙂
