Extract Info from Database?

I have now successfully created a registration & login/redirection page using both MySQL & php but I am now stuck how go a step further and create a fully functional customer database.

Say I have potentially 5,000 customers in a table each with their own username & password. They each inturn have their own page & a link is provided within the table.

I have also create a new database in MySQL which contains some call data records i.e "field names"
telephone,username,date,time,dialled,destination,duration,cost

Is there a php script/code which can extract automatically the call data records for each customer (username) and place them within their own page - as per my examples?

That's the basic idea. You can format the data any way you want.

I wouldn't suggest using $_SERVER['HTTP_REFERER'] in the header () call. It would just send them back to the last page they visited which could be anything. Maybe not even your site.

I would set a couple session variables. One to show that the user has been authenticated, and another holding the user name.

In whatever page you redirect them to, first check against the $_SESSION[logged_in'] (or whatever you call it) var to make sure they've been authenticated. If not, redirect to the login page.

Once you know they've been authenticated, run you're new query (like the one I gave you) using $_SESSION['username'] (or whatever you call it) in your query.

This sounds very complicated!

The below script at present redirects the customer to their own page which is current located in a folder within the root directory of my web server.

'0' being the first field within the database table.

If the customer is authenticated - they will be redirected to their own page. This is ok if I was dealing with one or two customers but when I'm thinking of 5k - 10k customers I need something automated.

Doing it the way you suggested - is this a big job? Is there much to be done from my code below?

The authtenication uses a database called "my_database" & a table called "users" and the call data records are in a database called "rates" & a table called "cdr".

Where would I start the new query? I'm guessing I would need to take out this:-

I rhink you're making this more dificult than it needs to be. Let me see if I can break it down for you.

First, we need a login page. Let's call it login.php. In this page we want to do one of two things, either display a login prompt if user is not authenticated, or redirect if they are.

To make this simpler we'll need to use some session variables. If you haven't worked with them before, they can seem a little overwhellming at first, but they really aren't once you see how they work.

First we want to check our session variable to see if the user is logged in. Let's call the session varaible "logged_in"

If the user has been authenticated already, this will redirect them to call_list.php. If they are not, we want to display a login prompt. We will use our do_login() function for this. It will look something like this:

Next we need to validate the form if isset($_POST['submit']) == true. Notice in the else if statement above, it calls the validate_form() function. We need to write this function.

look at the first section of code I posted from call_list.php

I assume you're using "main.php" and not "call_list.php" as your form target so you can change that accordingly.

This piece of code looks to see if the session variable "logged_in" is true. If it's not, it will redirect back to your login page. This is why I mentioned the importance of using session variables.
In my example the form in login.php posts back to itself and validates before redirecting to the next page. If you want, you can do this or set your form target to your main.php file, which is what I assume you've done. You just need to validate it and redirect accordingly.

If you show me the code you have now, I can show you where to include this.

Add this:

$username = $_POST['username'];

right above or below this:
