Display listing by date

I have a MySQL table with the following:

1 | 2005-04-28 | Welcome to my site
2 | 2005-05-18 | May is apon us!
3 | 2005-09-04 | Back to school
4 | 2005-09-01 | Better get your School supplies ready

The second column is in 'DATE' format.

What I need to do is query the table and list it like this:

APRIL 2005
Welcome to my site

MAY 2005
May is apon us

SEPTEMBER 2005
Better get your school supplies ready
Back to school

I just want it to take the first month in the database and the last month and query through each month and if found, group it by month and display a title of the month/year and then list each entry of that month.

I hope I have explained it correctly in enough detail.

Think you can just select out the messages by the month/year name. Use that as a key in an array. The value of which is an array of messages for that month. e.g.

$q = "select date_format(mydate,"%M %Y"),message from mytable";
$res = mysql_query($q,$link);
while($row = mysql_fetch_row($res))
{
    $messages[ $row[0] ][] = $row[1];
}

foreach( $messages as $month=>$messages )
{
    echo "$month<br>";
    for( $i = 0, $c = count($messages); $i < $c; $i ++ )
    {
        echo $messages[$i]."<br>";
    }
}

That worked PERFECTLY.
One question though, if I had a fourth column called 'description', how could I add it to display the description to the right of the 'title'?

ok, if you pull out the extra field in the query, then when it's assembling the messages array, just concat it on the end e.g.

$messages[ $row[0] ][] = $row[1]." - ".$row[2];

or u could use CONCAT() in ur query... tis up to you
