Is it possible to use

exec"shutdown";
?>

to remoteley shutdown a pc or reboot a pc using WinXP Professional IIS 5.0 just wondering how to execute these functions. is exec the same as clicking the run button on your computer and typing a command if not please could somebody suggest a command with this kind of functionality. also if there is a php program executer then this would be most helpful. I want to use VB to basically retreive some info about my wireless connection strength, server uptime and reboot the computer etc once done I will compile the whole project and post it FREE of course on one of my websites

there is plenty of info on this stuff in the manual. apparently, for this to work with windows you need to give the iusr_machinename account read/write permissions for both the cmd.exe, and the programm you want to run.

might be a bad idea.

if your using vb your probably best to wrap all your functionality into a com class, then call that using the com function in php.

thanks the reason i'm doing this is because i have an old pc acting as a wwireless bridge and want to have my own config utility
