"My Job Sucks" Support Group (now open)

I thought I would start a thread for people who hate their present jobs (or even occasionally have serious doubts!).

I'll start: I work at a business form manufacturer. I frequently have to deal with petty controlling people. It's like every so often they think, "hey David needs to be reminded that he is a pion, let's have him do something completely unecessary. That'll keep him in line."

OK that is just the surface of the whole scenario. I know part of it is because I feel ripped off. "Why am I in this hole of all places? This doesn't jibe with my big ideas for myself." mid-life crisis part 1. :glare:

I am a web designer and programmer. I enjoy the creative process, and creating front ends to websites is very enjoyable to me. So, why am I sitting here building bank applications (written in Java, BTW, which I am not very familiar with)? I'll tell you -- because it beats unemployment (which I am intimately familar with!).

I used to work for a bank. I have to admit, this is better than working for a bank.

So my boss just walks in and says, are you busy, I say, extremely, he says, you should be glad your so busy, I say, yeah but I don't want to be this busy right now, and he says, you DO want to be that busy as he walks out looking at me like the thought police of 1984, "you will want to..." (insert evil laughter as walks down the corridor towards room 101...)

And just hope that your current employer doesn't see this thread either. 😉 That would probably suck even more...

the only thing he can do on the computer is jiggle the mouse around so that the screen saver turns off, then click on "golf scores". Oh yeah, and he can point and drag the scroll bar up and down.

i am pretty happy where i am. it is quite challenging, but that is what i like.
