[Resolved] select not like???

We all know the select ... like ... query, but what's the opposite of that - is there a select ... unlike ...

basically, I want to count everyone from a given table where the state they live in is NOT new york. something like

SELECT COUNT(*) FROM spring2005 WHERE State !LIKE 'New York'

how do I do it?
