PHP page keep reloading, please help.

Hello,

I am writing program using PHP 5.0.3, MySQL 4.1.8 and Apache 2.0.52, running in Windows XP. When I install my program + the above PHP/MySQL/Apache in other computers, they only run well in certain computers.

The problem that occurs is that I cannot view all PHP pages properly. When I view some affected pages, the browser keeps reloading and reloading until it displays "Page cannot be displayed". Sometimes it doesn't reload but go to "Page cannot be displayed" straight away.

Any clue? Please help.

Could be any number of things...

The script you wrote is computer- or operating-system- dependent.
There is a configuration error on the non-working machines.
There is software/hardware interfering on the non-working machines.

etc. etc.

how do you know it's reloading when problem occurs? Just wonder

All computers I have used to test this is running on Windows XP.

I know it keeps reloading as from the browser's status bar, I can see that the PHP page sends a request to the apache web server then I can see a reply, but then a request is send again and web server replies and this keeps going until "Page cannot be displayed".

In other words, the PHP page flickers until "Page cannot be displayed". The index.php of phpmyadmin also flickers when I accessed it. This is strange as it doesn't happen with some computers. Btw, does it have anything to do with the size of the PHP page? The size of the affected pages is 73 KB and 75 KB (only 2 pages got this problem). The size of unaffected pages is just around 15 KB - 35 KB.

Anybody, please help?

is it just with this code that you are writing?

Try making a page that only has phpinfo(); on it. Does this loop?

I think it would help us greatly to see the examples of codes that you were using. Tell us which ones worked and where, and which ones didn't work and where.

How am I supposed to show the codes ( I am new to forums 🙂 ). The codes are damn long (thousands of lines including HTML codes). Is there anyway I can get it attached? If I can't get it attached here, I am willing to send the php files via email to anybody who are willing to help me out. Basically, the codes just consist of normal PHP codes like loop, $SESSION, $POST, calling functions and nothing complex.

The strange thing is that they all work perfectly in some computers and in some other, they don't. All of these computers of course, using Windows XP with PHP 5.0.3, MySQL 4.1.8 and Apache 2.0.52. Will that have something to do with Service Pack? Or should I use older version of Apache?

The page flickers when being viewed untill the browser display "Page cannot be displayed". Thanks guys.

Not sure if this is a good way, but I have posted the sample codes in a .rar file which can be downloaded directly from this URL:

It consists of 4 PHP pages:

manage_pr_applications.php (doesn't work in some computers)
manage_student_applications.php (doesn't work in some computers)

manage_clients.php (working in all computers)
manage_providers.php (working in all computers)

Sorry the PHP codes are long and messy ( I am inexperienced ).

I don't think it's a problem with your code. (Edit: haven't checked them, I must admit)
What you were saying "The index.php of phpmyadmin also flickers" is very suspicious. Plus the fact that it occurs on some computers only...strange

You might want to try another apache version, or check the apache conf as well...

I'm using a similar config on thellocal development computer, xp sp2/apache/php/mysql
and while the programs are sometimes updated I never had this problem.

current versions:
Apache: 2.0.49
PHP Version 5.0.4

Sorry for the late reply.

I fixed my problem by upgrading my Windows XP with service pack 2. I hope this would fix your problem as well.
