Use MySQL memmory to chose an item in a select

Hello,

I have the following dropdown menu on a form:

<option value="01">January</option>
<option value="02">February</option>
<option value="03">March</option>
<option value="04">April</option>
<option value="05">May</option>
<option value="06">June</option>
<option value="07">July</option>
<option value="08">August</option>
<option value="09">September</option>
<option value="10">October</option>
<option value="11">November</option>
<option value="12">December</option>
</select>

How could I have PHP grab the month from a row in my table and automatically chose the month that I have saved in the cell? (All I could think of is make an if statement for each one, but I think that's inefficient so I was hoping for a loop function, but I'm not too good with those)

I'm not following your question. To see what month is selected and run that in a query, you could use the following code:

$query = 'SELECT * FROM myTable WHERE month = \'' . ((@$_POST['Month']) ? $_POST['Month'] : '01')) . '\'';

That would select the month selected, or January (01) if the $_POST variable isn't set.

NOTE: If you do not have the magic_quotes_gpc enabled, you need to [man]addslashes/man to the $_POST variable to help prevent SQL attacks/injections.

Sorry for not defining my question too well.

I have the following code for selecting the date:

That works fine and dandy for the date, but it doesnt work for the month two-fold: I need it to put the "01", "02" for the days and it needs to have the text "January", "February" show up.

Can't you use the same code to retrieve the Month from MySQL, replacing '[day]' with '[month]' ?

But then it wont say the names of the months in the drop-down menu, instead it will just have their numbers. Also, I have the table setup as having January be "01" and not just "1". I'm having trouble setting up an array that looks like:
array(01=>"January",02=>"February"... etc

I guess, seeing that there are only 12 months, I could put an if statement for each one like:

EDIT: Woops! Infinite loop error! :p Corrected now.

EDIT2: Also forgot to change '01' to $i, corrected now.

EDIT3: Also, $row[Month] SHOULD BE $row['Month'], as without the quotes PHP assumes you're naming a constant. Since we're not, it outputs a nice E_WARNING. If you chose an index that also existed as a constant, you'd run into problems.
