I think the users of PHP-GTK are, and will be, expanding greatly in the next few months and a forum (a section on the main page, I mean) dedicated specifically to PHP-GTK would be appropriate. The PHP-GTK documentation is pretty incomplete and tutorials are rather sparse.

And why will it be expanding? This has come up before a while back not sure which forum though.

PHP-GTK2 is coming out fairly soon and interest in PHP-GTK is increasing. I'm sure a lot of web developers are interested in expanding to PHP-GTK for the ease of the toolkit and the chance to expand into application development without learning a new language. Anyway, such an important new aspect of PHP programming should be fostered by the development community, of which PHPBuilder is an important part. The more interest generated in PHP, the better the language will become for everyone that uses it.

It's just a toolkit for writing desktop applications in PHP, just like writing GTK applications with C++ or any other language.

        gtk.php.net (with tragically poor documentation)

Please ignore how much of a jerk the original poster is, and how the conversation violently shifted from PHP-GTK to what version of Linux everyone uses. I really do think a PHP-GTK forum would be great for getting PHP to a wider audience (those without access to Web servers running PHP and without the technical knowledge to install it locally).

Whole-hearted agreement here. PHP-GTK is such a different implementation of PHP. PHP was originally for making dynamic websites. PHP-GTK allows you to make desktop apps, which lends itself to an entirely different audience than just PHP alone. This community should help promote the expansion of PHP's user base. Perhaps take a poll on the matter, or simply create the forum and see if it is used enough to justify its creation?
