phpBB and phpOpenChat

I have a phpBB forums and wish to add a chat room (phpOpenChat). I am trying to intergrate them so they have the same user details, i.e. you have to register at the forums to have access to the chat.

What I need to know is how to connect to another SQL db and insert items into that table. But after that revert to the original SQL db connection.

Any help is apprieciated

no need to have another connection. you can do cross-db queries by adding the bname in front of the table names

$sql = "select * from dbname.tablename.fieldname from dbname.tablename [where clause]";

Oh Cheers mate, the only problem is, is that I've decided to change Chat client. But thanks anyway, this will help me later when I find a good client.
