How do I create A register file and login file

Basically I'm new to PHP I have trie reading relative book but still I really don't understand how it works. I'm just asking if anyone can help me. Well I have a MySql database and in the database is a password table that have the fields: User ID "Auto-Increment", firstname, surname, username and password. So my problem is that I need to create a register file that will allow the user to register and enter their details and it will store in the password table of the database. Then after that I need to create a login file that will ask the user to enter there username and password and then it will check if the username and password is stored in the databse, and if it is not in the database it will give an error message that will ask them to type it in again, and if it is in the database it will allow them to go the next page which is regular.php.

I really hope someone can help me with this I would be so greatful thankyou so much for your time

you're better off asking more specific questions. not many people on the board will just give you a whole chunk of script like that.

try googling (for example ) and then asking specific questions when you get stuck.

Something you can consider doing if you have a hard time learning from tutorials is to can go to hotscripts.com (look in the User Authentication section). You can find a few scripts that do what you want. Incorporate them into you rs, or use them as a learning lesson. That way you have the code right in front of you to learn from.

You can also search these forums, because this topic has been covered many many times.

Either way though, I agree with liquorvicar. You will have a hard time finding someone to just write this code for you, or give it to you without some sort of compensation.

Or if you cant be bothered searching the web most php books will cover logins seeing as its a popular thing (and is a perfect, simple way to show sessions at work:p ). If your still stuck then Dreamweaver MX 2004 Bible by Wiley publishing has a whole section on crafting multiple page applications and in that section goes over a login and restricting access to pages. But I'm sure you'll find everything on the forum here as TheDefender has said 😉

And word of advice (slightly off topic).. Whatever you do DONT buy ebooks. Their licencing sucks and its so much hasstle compared to the paper version :mad: lol
