COM interface with Excel 2003

Hello,
Can someone help me out with a small problem I am having setting up the COM interface with MS Office 2003? I have gone through the tutorial on this site detailing COM setup both through PHP and the dcomcnfg system, but when I run a simple COM application to verify that the system is working, I get an error message :

CGI Error
The specified CGI application misbehaved by not returning a complete set of HTTP headers. The headers it did return are: <blank>

I am running PHP 4.3.11 with Windows XP Professional and Office 2003

Can anyone help?

Update: after going through the COM setup with dcomcnfg again, I see that I don't have an IUSR_<Machine Name> account to be able to assign permissions to... any suggestions as to how I find it? I am on a large domain based network

Okay - upgraded to PHP 5 and I am no longer getting the php.exe application error. But I am still faced with an access denied error:

Fatal error: Uncaught exception 'com_exception' with message 'Failed to create COM object `Excel.sheet': Access is denied. ' in c:\Inetpub\wwwroot\php.php:10 Stack trace: #0 c:\Inetpub\wwwroot\php.php(10): com->com('Excel.sheet') #1 {main} thrown in c:\Inetpub\wwwroot\php.php on line 10

Which I am fairly certain is related to the lack of IUSR_<machine name> setup. Since I am not intending to give access outside of my local machine, is there another account besides the IUSR account I can allocate access to?
