[Resolved] variable syntax

Can any one give me a hint about the syntax I can use to create this variable?

The error output I'm gettting is: Unexpected "="

$rarea[$i] . "_specs" = implode(",", $_SESSION["res_" . $rarea[$i]]);

Background: Depending on the user's selections $rarea[$i] could represent any one of 7 different strings, ie. "black", "white", "yellow", ...

The session variable is obviously from a prior page. It is an array of strings with the res prefix (category) and $rarea[$i] suffix (subcategory).
$rarea[$i]specs will be fed into a MySQL database.

I'm not really sure how to phrase this question so if you have any suggestions or can point me towards another related thread, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Try this:

${$rarea[$i]}."_specs" = implode(",", $_SESSION["res_" . $rarea[$i]]);

Minor error (possibly typo) in bpat's code.

It SHOULD be:

${$rarea[$i]."_specs"} = implode(",", $_SESSION["res_" . $rarea[$i]]);

You can't use a period to slap strings together to form a variable name; you have to be inside brackets to do that. PHP is expecting a variable and then an operator. Surround everything about the variable name in brackets (as shown in my example) so it puts it all together.

I'm sure my explanation made no sense whatsoever. :p
