genarate date into database

hi!

i'm now doing my final year project about borrowing system using php.the problem is, i face the difficulty to generate the date using button.i mean, when user wants to borrow thing, just simply click the button after choosing things and the button will generate the current date and time, record the prosess directly into mysql database....and also how to generate the current date and time when the things had been returned.....i'm so appreciate any help from anyone...... tq so much!
