crazy password thing

hi, just creating a form to allow new users be added to my system, alls well its saving my username/password to the mysql, however, when i check the mysql, the password i enter eg 'password' comes out as lots of random numbers/letters instead of simply 'password' Thus meaning i cant use the new username/password i set up?

Perhaps the password is being md5 encoded?

This code doesn't put anything into mysql, so I'm surprised you find anything in there.

And please surround your code postings with [ php] and [ /php] (without spaces) so it can be formatted properly.

By the look of it - the MySQL column is set to accept an MD5 hash or set to PASSWORD - both of these will give a garbled answer - the password will have to be hashed to confirm against the database.
Any chance you can post the MySQL portion of the code as well ? ALso have a look at the structure of the table and find out what the column type is for the password field.
