[Resolved] Easiest way to activate a url

Basically when people click on a internal link that brings them to another internal page, I want to be able to activate an external link (as if clicked via a link), without opening any new windows or bringin people away from my site.

Is this possible, I have googled for what I think I am looking for, but have had no joy.

If anyone knows what I am trying to do and can point me in the right direction, it would be much appreciated

I found the solution after a bit more thinking

The solution I came up with was this

function activateSync($url)
{
$handle = fopen("$url", "r");
}

activateSync($url);

Where $url is created dynamically, as one the $url has been activated it automatically sends a confirmation email - which it has done for every test I have performed
