[Resolved] Searching DB Results & Pulling required Rows

I have been trying to create a relevent product search on my website for about a year now with little success.

The fields in my database that I am searching are:

prod_name,shortname,title1,title2,title3,title4

For example if a user types in "Citronic CD1x" then I would like to find every instance of the phrase "Citronic CD1x"

But... If they were to type in "Citronic CD1" or "citronic cd 1" I need them to still find the product they are looking for.

Since every product made by Citronic has the word Citronic in the title maybe It could automatically realise this and omit it to find more rellevant results?

Try using 'LIKE' in your query:

$query = "SELECT * FROM MyTable WHERE prod_name LIKE '%" . $search . "%'";

If that doesn't return the proper results, try replacing spaces in their $search query with the MySQL wildcard '%'.

Either way, to replace 'Citronic' or ' ' with '' (nothing) or '%' (the MySQL wildcard) respectively, look at using [man]str_replace/man .
