Aiy. I do get paid $1/ .5 minutes!!

    in my dreams.

But why must you use the good-quality porn? THe best is the amateur videos where people don't know what the f*** they're doing, but try and make good porn, and it turns into a comedy.... wait.... that's most porn movies... DAMN!!

I wouldn't know what you're talking about. I've never seen a porn movie in my life

"Halo?" Is that what you call it?

Hmm.... seems like we got slightly off topic didn't we?

                  It's Logical

If nothing else in this world, I love to be consistent. If it's logical, I don't do it, if it's illogical, I do it. Make sense? And I was rifting on the previous comment about all the topics being reposted.

Yep. That's what the Echo Lounge is all about 🙂

yes it does. besides that, it does have a lot of new functions, mainly added in the latest Zend 5 beta, like type hinting using PHPDoc comments, subversion support etc.

Like KDevelop except you have to pay for it and it only really works for PHP development rather than having cross language use. In KDevelop things like CTag support (the bit which understands the code and allows it to suggest method names for objects ertc.) is completely language non-specific so assuming there's a CTag syntax file for the language you're coding in, it will work.

KDevelop also has things like subversion/CVS support. As with all KDE applications you can save stuff directly to ftp or scp. If you're doing something in a compiled language you can manage your compilation process from within the environment. File grouping, bookmarking, block editing and everything you'd expect from a development environment. Also, if you don't like it's way of doing things you can import a VIM or emacs engine to make it more like either of them.

In short, it's sweet, damned sweet.

i use TruStudio or sometimes PHPEdit. i love eclipses perspectives, they come in so handy at times(yes, it is a bit of a weird reason to choose an editor....)

vim all the way. Anything else is for debutantes and amatuers. ;p

Um ... surely you mean dilettantes and amateurs???

i thought i meant debutantes, ya know glitzy spoiled peeps, like par-ass hilton, but maybe I'm using the wrong word? I'll admit defeat so we don't derail the topic anymore than we have.

                                    I LOVE TSW WebCoder.

if you've ever used and liked HomeSite, then you'll LOVE WebCoder for it's PHP affinity (vs coldfusion). ever since i started using v. 2005, which links up w/ MySQL on localhost and real-time monitors PHP variables and functions, my projects have been zooming! i've learned a lot from it too because the author implemented these cool little "tool tips" type things that pop up as you're coding (optional)-- when you come to a php function (which helps me on something perhaps less common like mysql_field_table() )as soon as you hit the opening parenthesis, the popup shows just like the Manual, for this instance, would be something like string mysql_field_table ( resource result, int field_offset ) -- which for me, as a relative newbie inching his way toward intermediate-advanced (how does one ever know when he gets out of newbie status!? hahahehe), it has done wonders for my own understanding. i've learned bits of code because of those pop-ups because i've looked stuff up, etc.

i could go on and on about why i love webcoder. i actually wrote a lengthy (ha! lengthy, would you believe that!?) review of it at download.com (username adesigninteractive).

it has very useful CSS, and Validation features too. you can validate your code as you're developing a page-- no need to complete and publish it-- very handy indeed! i'd swear, this guy thought of everything (while looking over my shoulder?)!

FTP built in too, but you just can't beat Filezilla for that (what time i wasted w/ SmartFTP!)

you can also customize the WebCoder GUI very close to anything you want (toolbars, buttons, and panels PLUS "styles" from XP to Office 2003 to Visual Studio for your favorite "look")-- a few limitations to where you can put the customized stuff, but it's just plain awesome for me.

if you're the type of person who is often heard touting the phrase "real men use notepad", then this app is probably not for you-- although i'd still say you could increase your productivity otherwise. if you're really new to PHP and HTML, then WebCoder might not be for you either (as i think EditPlus, or something more "bare bones" is better for learning the fundamentals)-- but if you're sort of in the middle, moving along, studying, acquiring your own techniques and rules-of-thumb, etc-- you should definitely give it a try! for me, it just "feels right".

if you don't like the bells and whistles i've mentioned, there's a "lite" version named WebPad (aka. webpad international) which might appeal to you more-- although you probably will not be able to find it as i believe it's unavailable at www.tsware.net where you'll find WebCoder 2005. i do have a copy of WebPad, and it was solicited for free. i'll ask the author if i'm allowed to share it, and if so, you're welcome to a copy i could post for you. (i'll update here if i'm permitted to share WebPad)

Hmm... perhaps the TSW coders could use their own program to debug their own site...

Screenshot for Syntax Highlighting & Wordwrap
Warning: session_start() [function.session-start]: Cannot send session cache limiter - headers already sent (output started at /hotel/h-web/WWW/tsware/screenshot.php:10) in /hotel/h-web/WWW/tsware/inc/functions.php on line 54

Other than taht, it is a good program. Although, if you're looking for something that integrates well into the PHP manual and helps you a lot, use the Zend Studio.

                                      ~Brett

i installed Zend Studio. It doesn't work right on my system. By now, I forget what the problem is exactly, but it wasn't much better than a glorified syntax highlighter-- oh, now i recall-- it kept telling me that there was something wrong with this code:

                                        $conn = mysql_connect("localhost", "private", "private") or die(mysql_error());
                                        mysql_select_db("mydbname", $conn) or die(mysql_error());

and after much frustration, i was unable to figure out why it didn't like it, as that code is/was not erroneous to the best of my knowledge (the php app worked, etc).
when i first installed Zend Studio, i thought its debugger was great when it found an error in a conditional logic statement which had been stumping me and the respondants to the thread that i posted here. but after that, i didn't have any luck. maybe i'll go back and try again someday. if i had the money to burn, i'd buy it-- but that's not an option for me, so i really can't use it at this point anyway. but thanks for the advice regardless!!
                                        😉

                                        EDIT:
have any of you experienced any similar "glitch" in Zend Studio?
i also had problems w/ the (pardon my probable misnomer) "php browser" and debugger in Eclipse (phpEclipse) which i believe was a result of java runtime environment problems. i kinda just gave up on all of that stuff and went back to WebCoder because, for one thing-- unlike Zend and Eclipse in my apparently unique situation, i didn't fear that it was going to crash / malfunction at any moment.
i probably sound like a dimwit who doesn't know how to install software, but i assure you that i am quite experienced in that realm (re: win o/s) -- and this is a relatively clean system, but i don't discount the JRE possibilities, as i mentioned.

i'd try Zend DE again, but my trial has expired (hence why i can't quote the exact errors i received there, and i didn't make notes)
