ok im working on a downloading script and i was wondering how would i make it so that the php, gets the referer, checks to see that it is one you specified, and if no it prints lets say "badref.html"

but what i want the sites specified only to be
google.com
yahoo.com
and for the last part to let it be a wild card so if you come from http://www.google.com/index.html it wont matter because you could come from that site.

Yes you can check $_SERVER['HTTP_REFERER'] also this can turn up empty as not all browsers send this, and it can also be modified. Maybe try using something else like a Session or something.

yea thats what i was using but it also sends the

/index.php?x=Page

ending. i want it so that it only reads the main .com site and not what follows .com

you'll have to do some PHP then, as thats the only Referrer thing within PHP that I know of.

I dont have the time to show you an example however you will need to look for something in the string like a / or a ? depending on if its a Directory that follows or the Query String.
