TextFile containing number of visitors today

Hey!! 🙂 What i am looking to do is have a text file that contains the total number visitors in one day. When the clock strikes midnight, the text files will be reset back to zero and the count will restart. Has any one got any ideas on how i can achieve this plz?!?

Search for Cron on this board or on a Linux site on how to setup a cron job to run at midnight every day. The script will be to set the counter back to 0.

The rest is pretty simple.

//read hits and add 1
$hits_today = str_replace($date.': ', '', fgets($f));
//rewind file
rewind($f);
//increment hits
$hits_today++;

no need for a cron job
