Ok, I am setting up a script that will date stamp a message according to timezone. I have a varible $tz that has a timezone i.e. -5, +4 how would I adjust the hour of this date stamp according to the $tz varible: date(YmdhiaT);

Well, PHP's timestamp is based on the number of seconds since January 1st, 1970, or something like that. Therefore, you can adjust each timestamp by 3600 (the number of seconds in an hour) for each hour of your time offset.

how would I do the actual adjustment?

strtotime('-4 hours');

will give you the time 4 hours ago so you could use

$timestamp = strtomtime("$tz hours");

or something along those lines.

Ok, I feel like a rookie but I am still alittle confused, here is what I have: date(Ymdhia);

how would I format that with $tz and then echo it: 2005/04/22 11:25am

try this:

echo(date('your date format here',strtotime("$tz hours")));

read the PHP manual to structure your date format. it's pretty clear for the date() function.

ok supose I have:

$timezone = "-5";
$time = "200504220915pm";
echo(date('Y/m/d h:ia',strtotime("$timezone hours")));

how would I bring the $time into the strtotime() so it will adjust a date already defined to the $timezone? And out put it like so:

2005/04/22 04:15pm

Ok, I have been trying to solve this for 2 days now. All I want to do is take a timestamp out of a database, adjust it to a timezone then echo it.

I have:

$timezone = "-5";
$timestamp = "1114284300";

and get something like 04/23/2005 14:25. Can anyone help me do this?

$new_timestamp = $timestamp + ($timezone * 60 * 60);
$formatted_date = date('m/d/Y H:i', $new_timestamp);
echo $formatted_date;
