post data formatting question

ok -- goofy question, and I know I've done this before, but I'm drawing a blank..

I have a html form that has a text box in it. I need to keep the formatting -- but of course, the LF, and CR's get toasted when the data is sent to the PHP.

What do I need to do to keep the formatting ?
