how can i automatically fill a form with an upload
field using php ?

do you meen you want to specify a file on the client to upload to the server?

you cant.... how would you know where the file is?

SYMPTOMS
If you use an INPUT TYPE=File element in an HTML FORM element, you cannot set a file name programmatically, regardless if you use script or set the VALUE property of the INPUT element to a default value.

CAUSE
Because INPUT TYPE=File allows arbitrary files to be uploaded from a user's computer to a remote server, setting this field programmatically is considered a security risk and is not supported.

i was trying to use a geocities page to redirect the user to my server so i need to update the index.html with my new ip automatically

Because geocities dont offer ftp access on his free accounts i was accesing the http manager with wget from the bash of linux, i was abble to delete the index.html but couldnt upload the new file with the new ip

I found a page that offers domain names and redirection for free so my problem is solved but im courious about if there is a way to do it with geocities ?

Yeah, there's a lot of websites like No-IP or DNS2Go (I think) that offer services like that.
