I guess I should clarify. No, our policies are not taken verbatim from other sites, I basically look to see what areas are covered by other privacy policies, and make a determination as to whether or not those areas are applicable to the site I'm working on. If it does apply, I make sure that it's covered (but in our own words, albeit we do throw in some legalese from time to time). I don't want anything falling through the cracks. For instance, Amazon's privacy policy is pretty extensive, but we don't have things like co-branding and affiliates to worry about, so I don't address those things in my privacy policy. However, if I do have a client that offers those programs, I will certainly use Amazon as a point of reference. And yahoo, and google, and ebay, and other large sites. So no, we don't "cut and paste" into one big document.
