Very simple forum code...

Hi all, i am currently working on a site and trying to include a forum. I have a fair understanding of PHP and MySQL but am really struggling with how to code a forum. My site already has a login/password/sessions etc so this doesnt need to be included in my forums coding.

I am looking for someone to help me out code or point me in the right direction. All i need is the very basic code for creating threads and adding posts etc using MySql and PHP. All the formatting etc i can do myself but just need the basic code that i can work around.

Any help in this would be greatly appreciated.

In general you're going to need two basic tables; Topics and Posts. Every post will need a field to link back to it's parent topic (via some ID). To separate into different forums you'll need a third table listing those separate forms and every topic needs to link back to a forum entry.

Thats the general idea. Lots of goodies can be added on, but that's up to you.
