how to do a php program

I am a newbie in php.Can anyone let me know how to do a basic php program.
Wht do i need to install to run a php program.
I have windows xp.

Well, if you're running Windows, I'm not sure where you drop your PHP files (hopefully someone else can help you there, I'm a Mac user myself). Once you find that out, simply access them using your loopback IP address (http://127.0.0.1). But again, this might be different if you're on Windows, it might be different.
