remote way of disk_total_space?

Note: This function will not work on remote files as the file to be examined must be accessible via the servers filesystem.

I'm starting to dis-like that message :glare:

I'm after a way of achiving the same effect disk_total_space and disk_free_space do but on remote files.

Is there a way? if you define the amount of diskspace?

I'm guessing if you say there's 50 megs, you find the file size of ALL the files on the directory and sub directories then add them all together and find out how much space you've used and how much you have left.

I just don't know how to code it. I need a new PHP book! I've finished my current one and its too basic *cries

Possibly, if you can use say, [man]filesize/man with the appropriate URL wrapper.

Read the docs and user contributed comments in the PHP Manual on filesize(), most likely someone has contributed a function to get directory size, since it is quite trivial to write.
