[Resolved] Carraige Return Line Feed CRLF

Dumb question, but I can't seem to get the CRLF functionality to work when I'm writing to a text file!

My outputstring that I'm trying to write is:
$outputstring = '"'.$surveyid.'","'.$firstname.'","'.$lastname.'","'.$today.'",'.'\r\n';

But the \r\n actually shows up as text in the file, not a carraige return and line feed.

You have to surround escaped characters with double quotes. Single quotes will only interpret \' and \.

I tried this and it still didn't work:
$outputstring = '"'.$surveyid.'","'.$firstname.'","'.$lastname.'","'.$today.'"';
$outputstring = $outputstring."\r\n";

I need to have double quotes around each field that is a string so I have a properly formatted comma delimited file.

Please advise,
