Send email at a later date

Since I'm not sure which topic this falls under, I'm posting it under General.

My question is this: Is there some way to have the server (via PHP, hopefully) send out an email at a certain date, defined by a MySQL entry?

For instance, if I had a mailing list, and I wanted to set up an option to send at a later date, would there be some way to do this?

If your webhost is a *nix based host, you can probably setup a CRON job to run every so often. In the CRON, run a PHP script that checks your DB and send out emails. If it's a Windows based host, you can use PyCRON or Windows Task Scheduler to accomplish the same thing.
