Calling a C DLL function from PHP

Hi All,

Just wanted to know abt the simplest way of calling my own C DLL function from a PHP page.
Do i need to compile a PHP Extension for this?
If so what's the procedure of creating it?

But im not using any COM module here.
Its just a simple C DLL with exported funcs.
