Hi, what sort of php prog do I need to do something like this?

Is it a database prog or something else. It searched a database for the vehicle and returns the page with the relevent data but do I need sql or can it just run over a file? Where would I find something like this to buy or download so my page users can search a db via a form?

A simple database search will work, or string search. There's no program (that I know of) but you can write a quick function to do it.

ok thanks Ive got a book I just bought on php and sql so I guess I'll get the hang of it. I am coming from zero programming knowledge and still dont quite understand what an sql database is or how my php can work with it. I've havent found a good newbies description of it and most sites assume some knowledge of computer stuff so I still have no clue as to what or how sql is... ;or what a functuion is ;( but Ill get there...

your best bet then is to read your book. cover to cover. it might seem like allot, but most books are written in such a way to start you off slow, and gradually introduce more complicated ideas.
