php.exe launches console window

I am running php v4.3.11 as a CGI on Windows XP. The web server is IIS v5.1.

For some reason when running PHP scripts on the server, a black console (cmd.exe) window pops up and quickly goes away each time php.exe is executed. The pages are rendered to the browser properly, but the console is annoying when it pops up all the time. Does anybody know what may cause this to happen and how I make it not pop this up every time php.exe is called?

Sounds like you've installed the wrong PHP executable; maybe the command-line version instead of the SAPI module. What does calling [man]php_sapi_name/man tell you?

I installed PHP as a CGI and used the php.exe that unpacked from the zip file located in the PHP root folder, i.e. c:/php/php.exe

Here is the output from php_sapi_name

 >>>>>       sapi_type is cgi-fcgi  <<<<<<<

I definitely left the command line (cli) exe in the cli sud directory located at C:/php/cli

Any other ideas as I still have this problem.
