urgent: calculate term

Hi,

I have a problem, how can a calculate a term stored as a string value like '16e+19'? It's unfortunately the way mysql stores large data. I tried floatval, but it didn't work.

Please help soon, the project has to be finished today!

echo $x;

$x = '16e+19';
echo (float)$x;

outputs

1.6E+20
1.6E+20

which seems quite correct

it is correct as a term, but what I want to display is the value. I abused another function for this purpose now, but I'm wondering if there is a better possiblity for it. My code now:

number_format($val1, 0, '', '')

No, that's about it (though you don't need the "0, '', ''" part as those are the default values).

$x = 16e19;
echo $x;

works fine for me; but that's because I've set the precision in php.ini to 24 digits.

Thing is 1.6e20 is the value, and what you're wanting is to format it a particular way - and that means turning it into a string.

I finished the product with that issue at least at around 08:00 on Friday evening 🙂
However, maybe I should set the digits with ini_set() higher on Monday.
